LOOT BOXES

So often, we take inspiration from our physical reality to then be recreated as a digital version. In the Loot Box series, I wanted to reverse this process and take an object that exists only in the digital space and turn it into a physical object. Drawing inspiration from popular videogames, I wanted to paint an object that exists only in the world of GTA: San Andreas.'Loot Box no.1' was created by painting each individual square (1cm x 1cm) on this box to create the visual effect of pixels, mimicking those that make up the cardboard box in the virtual world.

'Loot Box no.2' was created by cutting and sticking small squares and then meticulously placing them to create a blurred, out of focus appearance synonymous with that of the digital world.
