BIO
William Bacon (b. 1993) is a British artist whose work explores how material culture reflects systems of value, labour and attention. Through collage, sculpture and installation, he transforms low-value materials into objects for reflection and revaluation. He works with found materials often collected within a close proximity, whether physical fragments gathered from the immediate environment or digital artefacts sourced from confined virtual spaces like video games. Using simple, accessible actions like cutting, sticking and layering, his projects evolve slowly through repetition and close material engagement, allowing meanings to shift and surfaces to become unfamiliar. He reframes value by drawing attention to the overlooked details and material shifts that shape how we see, use and discard. He currently lives and maintains a studio practice in Oxford, UK.
