The Witness was a collaborative exhibition by William Bacon and Valerie Amani, concluding a five-week residency at the historic Hugenottenhaus in Kassel, Germany. Supported by Moving School, the exhibition featured installation, video, and performance works exploring themes of transformation, shelter, and memory - inviting the public to consider the house not just as a site, but as a witness to the lives and histories it has contained.

 

Each room in the Hugenottenhaus becomes like a page in a diary - personal, revealed, and intimate - offering glimpses into moments felt, forgotten, or imagined. Together, these spaces form a larger narrative, one that unfolds through the language of art and the silence of walls that have listened for generations.
